This book contains three lectures given by Lewis, originally published in 1944. The lectures deal with a problem that Lewis saw in education, indicative of a trend that he saw in the world, and where it would lead. The trend of dehumanization was most pronounced among the Nazis at that time, but Lewis saw the rest of the world following not far behind.
Lecture 1: Men Without Chests
A publisher had sent Lewis for review a book that was intended as an English composition text book for "upper form" students. Lewis had no desire to embarrass the authors, but he thought that the book's approach betrayed a basic problem with the educational philosophy of his day, and wished to comment on that. So he called the book The Green Book, and the authors Gaius and Titius.
Lecture 2: The Way
Lecture 3: The Abolition of Man
Appendix: Illustrations of the Tao
